Recently I was packing for a trip to the Atlanta-area where I would be speaking at a conference for pastors and church leaders. AMC - the American Movie Channel - was showing Airport 1975. I hadn't seen that movie in so long that I didn't even remember it. I had to laugh when Sister Ruth - a nun played by Helen Reddy - began to sing and everyone on the plane stops to listen. I've racked up a few frequent flier miles but I've never seen anything quite like that! Then I began to listen to the words. Sister Ruth sings, "Who is always with you everywhere? Who is on your side when others are unfair?" and I'm thinking maybe this isn't so cheesy after all. I'm thinking she's going to say God. Wrong. Sister Ruth's answer is you! The song, Best Friend, appears on Helen Reddy's self-titled debut album. Its basic message seems to be me-first equals happy. In Philippians, Paul says others-first equals happy. Join us this weekend as we continue the life-changing message-series, Jailhouse Rock.
