Get the Win

Last week I spoke at a youth conference in Atlanta where students were given index cards on which to write questions for a Q & A session. There were some great questions but the one that I'll never forget started like this: "So I prayed the prayer but . . ." This new Christian went on to describe her frustration as she tries to live the Christian life only to find that she keeps giving in to the same temptations over and over again.

Sound familiar? How many times have you tried to do the right thing and failed miserably? Or tried to do the wrong thing and succeeded even more miserably? Can we learn from our mistakes or, better, from the mistakes of those who have gone before us? This weekend and next we're going to talk about the things we can do to beat sin and get the win. Jesus Returns

Have you seen Superman Returns? According to Box Office Mojo it grossed over $100M in seven days. If the box office were a boxing ring, Superman would win a split decision over Batman only to be knocked out by Spider-Man.

Speaking of Spider-Man, the trailers before Superman Returns included one for Spider-Man 3. At the end it says, "IN THEATERS MAY 2007". May 2007? I almost wish they wouldn't start advertising this early. That's almost a year away! You know how long that's going to feel?

That's nothing. God started showing trailers for Jesus Returns a couple thousand years ago! Except Jesus Returns isn't Sci-Fi/Fantasy. It's history in advance!
